Beautifully cast in mottled blue-green bronze, Campbell's witty, sleek sculptures explore the notion of collecting. Campbell notes, "I have been surrounded by collectors my whole life...to me, collecting became a three-dimensional diary: I remember where every piece comes from, which is a constant reminder of where I have been." Through the figure of the magpie - an avid, beady-eyed collector, often seen in Campbell's sculptures clutching its prize - Campbell undertakes a kind of anthropology of collectors and collecting, threaded with ideas of memory, power and possession.
