JOON-HEE PARK

My Reflection
14 March - 1 April 2006

Joon-Hee Park was born in Korea in 1979 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1993 where she completed her education including a BFA and and an MFA (Hons) at Elam in 2003.

The self-portrait exhibited here won a Merit Award at the 2005 Waiheke Art Awards (Judged by Alan Smith) and a recent work is a finalist in the 2006 National Portrait Award to be exhibitied in Wellington later this year.

Coming from a family of artists, Joon-Hee has been painting since childhood. In her current, very personal, narrative paintings she captures and recreates moments - random pieces of memory - from her past, juxtaposing them with contemporary and found images.
